1960年代，Seiko以全新高精準度設備在國際體育計時舞台上嶄露頭角，得到了眾多國際體育協會的熱烈認可，並於許多世界級體育賽事中記錄時間。這一成功的核心是一系列計時碼錶，這些碼錶採用了Seiko創新的“心形凸輪”機制，提供了一度被認為是手動運動計時設備無法實現的精確度。

緊接著，1969 年Seiko推出了配備Cal.6139創新機芯的Speedtimer。

這是世界上第一款同時配有導柱輪與垂直離合器等兩種裝置的自動計時碼錶，這使得手錶在時間的測量方面有了大躍進，至今仍是高性能計時碼錶的先決條件。

今天，以 Speedtimer 以及Seiko豐富而持續不間斷的運動計時傳統為靈感的全新系列六款腕錶加入 Prospex 系列。

其中一款限量腕錶搭載了全新自動計時機芯8R46，以此向 1964 年的碼錶設計致敬。而另一款與限量版同樣搭載8R46機芯、並另推出四款太陽能計時碼錶以完善該系列。
